AWTP* Lab is a performative laboratory centered on DJing, initiated by Papilloneer Orchestra. It explores DJing as a collective and performative practice through turntablism/CDJism, jamming, experimentation, and improvisation.

20 participants who are familiar with DJing will be divided into groups of four, each guided by a member of the Papilloneer Orchestra quintet. Each group will develop a 30-minute jam session, recorded in both audio and video within the stage setup designed for Papilloneer Orchestra’s performance later that evening.

AWTP Lab encourages exploration, real-time interaction, active listening, and playful approaches to DJing, considering the turntable as a musical instrument in its own right, beyond traditional mixing (and/or B2B). The selection process will pay particular attention to inclusivity and diversity of musical paths, backgrounds, generations, genders, and intersectional perspectives—bringing together a plurality of people, experiences, and points of view that reflect the diversity of society and musical scenes.
