Open to performers; prior experience with improvisation not necessary
English spoken
The workshop is aimed at musicians, improvisers, and sound artists interested in exploring the spatial qualities of overtones and timbre through improvisation. We will investigate sonic instabilities of instrumental limit cases, and weave in conversations about sustained curiosity through listening, listening to one’s instrument as a generative principle, and unruly timbre as a metaphor for multiplicity. Participants will devise impromptu pieces in small groups of 2-3, and the workshop will culminate in performances followed by a group improvisation session.
